DRAFT PROCEDURES
1. Each team will have a team number assigned by the League Registrar and the number assigned is for the seasonal year. This number is blind picked at the coaches meeting or skills evaluation.
2. Each team in the upper divisions U11 thru U19 is allowed 5 retentions. In the lower divisions, U7 thru U10 they are allowed 3. The League Registrar must approve these retentions.
3. Only the following are eligible for the draft:
· Player must be registered in the league.
· Physically attend skills evaluation. (If a player does not attend skills evaluation the player may not be retained, nor drafted, they can only be drawn from the hat, no exceptions).
4. The draft will start promptly on time as announced to all Coaches. Coaches not present or who do not have a representative present will have their players drawn by a designee of the Board of Directors.
5. Assigned team numbers (which were blind picked at skills evaluation) will be listed numerically on a board and number of retention players shown. An example is shown below. The "X" represents the approved retentions.

6. In the example shown above Team 205 will take the first pick, then Team 209, 210, and 211 in that order. The next round 205, 206, 209, 210 and 211. The 3rd round 205, 206, 209, 210 and 211. The 4th round 202, 205, 206, 209, 210 and 211. 5th round 202, 205, 206, 209, 210 and 211. The 6th round starts with 201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206, 207, 208, 209, 210 and 211 gets 2 picks and it goes up 210, 209 till you get to the top. Team 201 will get 2 picks and it goes down. This continues until all players who have been to skills evaluation are chosen.
7. Special restrictions:
· In an effort to make the U18 teams balanced, each U18 team will be allowed to pick the maximum of the following players
o Under 18 Boys Division is allowed up to four (4) 16, 17 or 18 year old players (any combination)
o Under 18 Girls Division is allowed up to four (4) 16, 17, or 18 year old players (any combination)
o Under 18 Co-ed Division is allowed up to four (4) 16, 17, or 18 year old players (any age/gender combination)
· Siblings requesting to play on the same team are counted as 2 or 3 picks and this team is skipped in the next round for the appropriate number of picks.
· Rideshares, parents/players requesting ride shares are told that there is no guarantee but we will try to honor their request. When a player with a ride share is requested, then the Board Member running the draft announces the rideshare request. At this time the coach can elect to take one of the players and indicate that if available he will honor the rideshare request at his next pick. It is not mandatory that the coach or any other coaches honor the rideshare request.
8. When all players have been drafted, then keeping the same order the players who did not attend skills evaluation are drawn from the hat and placed on teams until all players are exhausted.
9. Coaches must have valid coaching license on record with the league. Any coach, who does not, will NOT be given his team registration forms. No coach may hold any type of practice unless he is in possession of the original registration form for his or her players.
10. All coaches will be required to turn in uniform orders for his or her players before leaving the draft.
Recommendations
- Come prepared.
- Place your player requests in order by player name and number from the skills evaluation.
- Cross off retentions FIRST.
- Please pay attention and make sure you cross players off your list as they are drafted.
- If you're new and need help, show up early and ask questions.
